Dog Listening – the method
For dogs in the wild, their very survival is dependent on being part of a strong and well organised pack. In the pack every member knows their place, the responsibility of the stability and survival of the pack is ulitmatley down to the pack leader.
Hanne Grice teaches the Amichien Bonding® method, developed by Jan Fennell, The Dog Listener. This method is based on showing your dog in a calm, convincing way that you are the assertive pack leader. Often dogs get themselves in a muddle when they don’t trust their human to be a good pack leader and this is when unwanted or anti-social behaviours kick in.
Jan Fennell spent a lifetime devoted to dogs and over the years she couldn’t help thinking that something was missing from the traditional methods of dog training and dog behaviour. One day she saw Monty Roberts, the Horse Whisperer at work, and she realised what it was. Monty used the natural language of the horse – to communicate with it and establish a relationship of trust between himself and the horse. Jan knew there must be an equivalent way of communicating with dogs in a language they’d understand and to discover this language, turned to the dog in its most natural form the wolf.
The wolf pack live by a common set of rules, by understanding these rules Jan developed a method of communicating with our domesticated dog, to establish a relationship of trust in which our four-legged friends can relax, and accept us as their natural leader.
Hanne Grice has been personally trained by Jan Fennell and her son Tony Knight, and holds the advanced certificate in Canine Communication as run by Jan Fennell and the Amichien Dog Listeners.
